The Syrian regime is constantly coming up with new ways to punish its population. This video from today (February 20, 2012) shows the dam of Rastan (in the area of Hama/Homs) open. The opening of the dam is designed to flood agricultural fields and pastures of livestock. This collective punishment is being inflicted upon the villagers of the Houla & Sahl-al-Gab areas in Homs/Hama, who have revolted against the regime.
A similar dam opening was carried out in Idlib a month ago, also designed to collectively punish Syrians who have revolted against the regime. Most of Idlib governorate is currently out of the regime’s control.
Thank you Faqi Mqayed for the info and clarification.
